Relocation of active ingredients, growth in contract manufacturing, ANSM and FDA inspections: the French pharmaceutical industry recruits under permanent regulatory constraint. Volta Executive approaches site directors, quality directors and the production and maintenance managers who keep GMP sites running directly. Every finalist is assessed by an engineer.
The pharmaceutical environments we map
Hiring pharma executives through 2026
A sector in accelerated reindustrialisation
France is relocating its pharmaceutical production: strategic active ingredients, growing contract manufacturing, capacity extensions in sterile forms and biotechnologies. Every extension or production transfer project calls for the same scarce profiles, sterile production managers, QA/QC, process engineers, qualified maintenance managers, in a narrow national talent pool where everyone knows everyone. Pharma sites recruit mainly from one another: without direct search, a manufacturer only has access to profiles that failed elsewhere.
GMP quality cannot be read on a CV
A pharma quality manager is judged on lived experience: ANSM inspections and client audits gone through, handling of deviations and CAPAs, batch release under schedule pressure, data integrity. The same goes for production: running a sterile line, equipment qualification, production transfers. These skills are assessed through precise trade questions, the ones an engineer consultant asks naturally and a generalist recruiter does not know.
Our kinship with pharma: a regulated-industry culture
Volta Executive is built on process industries with heavy regulatory constraint: nuclear and its safety culture, food processing and its quality standards; the founder is an AgroParisTech engineer, trained in the life-science industries, who worked at INRAE and then EDF. Pharma shares exactly this grammar: traceability, qualification, documentation, a culture of deviation. It is this shared grammar that lets us assess pharma candidates on substance.
"Nuclear taught me safety culture, food processing taught me the quality standards of living systems. Pharma speaks the same language: deviations, CAPAs, qualification, traceability. When I assess a sterile production manager, I ask how they lived through their last inspection, and the answer says everything."

Our method ofexecutive search
Scoping the role and the site
A 1-hour scoping session with the future manager: dosage forms produced, site status (marketing authorisation holder, contract manufacturer), inspection history, scorecard of expected results. The site's regulatory level of demand determines the profile, not the other way round.
Mapping the pharma talent pool
Mapping of the search ecosystem: comparable sites, same dosage forms, same status, same size, and the target profiles working there. The French pharma talent pool is narrow: the discretion of direct search is an absolute condition there.
Direct approach and trade assessment
Personalised approach to profiles in post. Assessment by the founder, a Mines engineer: GMP, deviations/CAPAs, inspections lived through, transfers and qualifications led. Shortlist of 3 to 5 well-argued finalists within 10 days, hire within 3 weeks.
90-day integration follow-up
Follow-up from the start date through to day 90, regular check-ins with the executive hired and their manager, a 3-month replacement guarantee, extendable to 6. 96% success rate across 120 assignments analysed between 2023 and 2025, Volta Executive and previous firms.
