02 · The role

Senior electrical engineering project manager · permanent contract, cadre status

What you do,in practice

  1. Run your own projects

Your projects are large and run into the millions of euros. You hold them from bid submission to site handover, margin included. You are expected to own the result of each project, not just its progress.

  2. Help the unit progress

You lead the project managers, review their files and raise their level. You are not a full-time manager, and there is no formal hierarchy: authority is earned through the quality of your reviews.

  3. Validate the costing

You validate the unit's quotes and secure margins before they go out. This is where project management needs to be better framed. You are expected to say no to a fragile quote.

  4. Track risks and contract amendments

Contract position, work remaining and amendments, project by project. You are expected to spot drift early and document it.

  5. Coordinate design office, procurement and site

Three teams aligned on every project. You are expected to make sure nothing is lost between design, supply and the field.

  6. Be management's relay

What the field reports goes through you: the unit's progress and points of attention. You are expected to send short, factual, quantified updates.

No remote working: the role is held alongside the teams.
